My site was spamed today by some idiot with nothing better to do. He put a bunch of crap in the comments section. Is there a way to delete all the comments/trackbacks at one time? It looks like he put a ton of them on there. I don’t have any other comments on there so deleting them all won’t hurt anything?

thx

There’s a ton of messages about this in feature requests and technical support.

The easiest way to clean them up is to go your blacklist and add texas or texas-holden or psxtreme or holdem or all of the above.

that’ll clean ‘em up and stop future ones.

I just tried adding every variation of the url, user agent, etc and all the comments/trackbacks are still there…I read the posts in the Technical support section. Some people are having success with this method but many are not…

There has to be some way to delete all these at once? Manually will take me hours!

Thx

As far as deleting them all at once, Sue posted a sql query in one of the trackback posts in the FR forum to delete them based off title.

Ah.  The people that reported problems with that were in 1.2 - not in 1.2.1.  Indeed, some of those said it’s now working - so I’m surprised that yours isn’t.

But yea, that query is the other way.

BTW: What variations of the URL did you try?

Well I just did the query and that deleted them from view but in the control panel home they still show up as recent comments?

I tried all these urls:

p s x t r e m e.com
texas-holdem.psxtreme.com
online-poker.psxtreme.com/

I put texas-holdem in the user agent section along with online poker…

However since I just did the query the blacklist won’t help since its all deleted. But now I am stuck with all these “comments” in the Control Panel Home!

Thx Lisa

That’s not a user agent, so it would not work.

Did you try just “holdem”?  Or .texas- ? The blacklist should stop future problems, so it will help.

And there is a bug report about your control panel thing.  You should perform a recount (admin -> recount statistics) as well.

Actually I was just thinking…if I could do a similar query on the comments that would delete all traces of this even in the control panel. I don’t have comments on my site so I won’t loose anything important!

Couls someone write a query to delete all comments like the trackback one?

Thx

Lisa, I tried the recount and that did nothing…I think the only thing I can do is a query to delete all comments

Thx

No, the recount won’t fix the control panel thing.  That’s a bug, and it’s been reported, like I said.  =)
