hi there,
so i had to transfer an ee-site to another server with a complete new database setup etc
i told them, i’d prefer a database with the encoding set to utf-8, because the
database the system was running on already was utf-8 and i thought i should stick with it ![]()
the server admin (of the new server) mailed me in response to that, he can’t change the charset of a
single database because their mysql-version doesn’t support it. furthermore the query
CHARACTER SET isn’t supported either, i’ve to convert my data before.
mhm, okay. that sounds like anything and everything to me at the same time,
i’m not much of an charset-profi, i’ve to state here.
the only thing i know is that the special characters in my data are replaced
with weird characters. and that is not really acceptable…
is there anything i can do?
much thx in advance,
jeremias
