This is a nerve wracking thing to be writing this post. This site is 8 months of brainstorming with a friend and 2-3 months of putting the site together. And even now we are working on some things to get our product squared away. But the site is live and you can take a look at what we have planned. The store is disabled for the time being but we will have Avactis as the storefront. No integration with EE at this point as I intend to just use Avactis to gather customer information. And in the future we will probably build integration with icontact.com as that is our preferred email newsletter provider.

Anyway, without further ado I hereby announce EETemplates.com to the EE community. We will be providing ExpressionEngine templates.

Within the next 2-3 weeks I hope to have 1 free template up for those visual learners that would like to see the structure of a working EE site. And that is the difference here. We are going to be building ExpressionEngine websites and selling them as downloadable products. We are doing this because I want our templates / themes to have cool things built in to show the power of EE. So, for instance, one of our first templates will be a church website. It will have podcasting, blogging, a flash rotator and a whole bunch of other stuff built in. So stay tuned.

Make sure to sign up on the mailing list if you want to be updated…

And if you find something on the site that needs to be fixed don’t hesitate to let me know below wink

Awesome. Will you be eventually allowing other developers/designers to submit templates and stuff, or is it strictly a closed venture?

Thanks Lebisol. I dunno what is going on with eedesign.org. I see that it is still up and being updated so…

Alienne I am not sure about that. For right now it is closed just because I have not finished the site and want to make sure that I get my stuff squared away. But send me a pm with some of your work and we’ll see what happens…

I would love to contribute and build my portfolio at the same time - hope you open it to the developer community. Regardless, very cool.

subscribed to your blog feed, but couldn’t find a feed for the tutorials.

I am working on a small community site and would love to take ee free/member templates-among others.

This is good news from MarcusNeto’s side since most of the people that I send to check out EE come back with disappointing experience of templates/demos. Granted that ones you do a bit of EE it is not as important but the first impressions do count.
Now people will have a place to buy some pro quality templates in the same place.
This is good stuff for the developer as well as EE.

Congrats Marus on launch and looking forward to updates!

Thank Lebisol. I really do hope that it is taken as that. Just like what I found in the Joomla Community there is room for both templates and for custom. Obviously the world of EE has been pretty much 100% custom up to this point. Just hoping that some of the people that do not necessarily need a 10k dollar custom site but also want to have the security and professional features that come with EE will have a place to get a jump start….

@sean there is not a feed for the tutorials. I guess I could make one… Kinda want people to have to come to the site for something wink

How about a feed with just a summary of the tutorial?

Looking good Marcus.

Maybe add the head section code that makes the RSS grabbable from the browser URL bar, for example on the blog homepage.

<link href="http://www.eetemplates.com/index.php?/blog/rss_2.0/" rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="EETemplates blog" />

I think I’ve got the right code there, it might get you more subscribers.
Subscribers are a good thing, remotely or on site. They’ll pop in when they see the good stuff.

I’ve been waiting for something like this, knowing that at some point the EE Community would come up with sometime along the lines of Shape5 or RocketThemes (for Joomla). This looks like a great venture and I wish you much success. Depending on the timing, I may be one of your first customers!

Hi again, another quick notice, the word “Blog” turned up in my blogline feeds, it was for EEtemplates since I had subscribed to the feed.
The correct title EEtemplates Blog or something, isn’t showing up just the word blog, so it’s going to get lost in there. Should be a quick fix?

Good job Marcus, the site rocks!

I was looking for a site just like this one when I first discovered EE. (I wasn’t really sure at the time what EE was capable of, and needed some examples..)

I’m sure that you’ll do well. I’m going to subscribe to the feed, and check back often.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words. It is very exciting to think of being on the verge of this. Again, it has been 8 months of talks and 2 months of work. And we are close… really close…

@tmEE thanks for pointing out the issues with the RSS feed. I will fix them today.

@sean Good point on the RSS for the tutorials.

While I do not want to steal too much away from what Michael Boyink with train-ee I do realize that for our product we have to have tutorials explaining how to do specific things. And I know there are questions that are recurring in the forums that I need to remember wink Forced Query Strings, Moving EE Sites and Custom Weblogs Oh MY!
