cant select theme at end of installation wizard

i almost made it to the finish of the installation wizard BUT cannot choose a theme! In my themes/site_themes/ i have /default and /kiwi_green. I haven been playing with permissions like 666 -7… and so on but i cannot choose a theme at the pull down menu. At some point I came very close as i could chose but no again everything is blank!

Anybody?

Are you sure you have uploaded all the files correctly and followed the installation intructions to the letter? Are you saying that the menu to select a theme is just empty?

yes the pull down menu looks like a long vertical square but there is nothing to select - i have two themes in my site_themes directory.
