This is a very simple query.

We have a website www.visitlondonmediacentre.com which when it was developed had the url as http://visitlondon.prelive.cimex.com

Now that the actu domain is pointing to the right server I am unable to find the directive to change the default site address to the correct one.

I have changed the line in config.php to

conf[‘cp_url’] = “http://www.visitlondonmediacentre.com/system/index.php”;

but this seems to have not done anything to get the site to redirect. We are using MySQL as the backend DB server.

We have solved this, by setting the path in

CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration

and in CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Weblog

in Path Settings

for each weblogs…

http://www.visitlondonmediacentre.com/system/index.php looks like a proper path to the control panel.  You want to use it in ‘Admin- System Prefs- General Config’ ‘URL to your Control Panel index page’.  You don’t want to use it for ‘Admin- Weblog Admin- Weblog Management’ under your weblog paths.  The ‘system’ folder should, in fact, remain private.  (Hence edited here to the generic ‘system’.

Not entirely sure what was redirecting improperly- should use something like http://www.visitlondonmediacentre.com/index.php for the ‘URL to the root directory of your site’- and something similar (w/out the ‘system’ folder in it) for any weblog paths.

Don’t want to close this quite yet- but tweak those weblog path settings to remove the ‘system’ and point wherever else you need them to.  Then surf around, make sure everything is ok.  Once you confirm all is well, let me know and I’ll close this out.
