Moderator’s note: Actual “system” directory name changed for security reasons.

I freshly installed EE on IIS and get this error whenever I try to access any Link within the Weblog Administration.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8.388.608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122.880 bytes) in /webs/a/www.architekturweb.at/foobar/system/cp/cp.publish_ad.php on line 9104

The odd thing is, that the allocated memory is FAR below the available memory. Besides the task should in no way require too much memory. I hope this is a simple problem with a simple solution, because I would like to have the system running until the end of the week.

Thanks in advance,
Harald Eckmüller

I rather think this is a simple case of EE not getting enough memory. PHP seems to be configured to only allow 8 MB per process, and that seems slightly to little in that case. This is a configurable setting, and has nothing to do with the amount of memory physically available. A setting of 16 or even 32 MB should be ample for most purposes.

Thanks for the fast reply, but shouldn’t the memory the process *did* try to allocate be beyond the 8MB to cause that problem? in this case he tried to allocate 123KB and already ran into a problem?

Anyway, I’ll try to contact my webhost and have him ramp up the memory for the php process - I’ll see, and hope, if this solves the problem!

Thanks,
Harald Eckmüller

No, we are talking about additional memory allocation here, after using up the 8MB you started out with.
