I have each entry in a list of entries providing a link to its single entry page.

I want to edit the layout of the single entry page template/layout. How do I do this?

I am new to the system and have still not quite got my head around the proper structure of the content in the database, between weblogs, template groups, templates and these single entry pages. I am not using the system to create a blog, but as a general-purpose cms.

Thanks for your help,

Fred

Hello Fred -

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to do, so I hope this helps:

The html for a template to view a single entry should be in your Template folder, which you can access from your Control Panel. That is the only template you need for all entries and you can use EE tags to, in effect, tell the template which entry to display. It sounds as if you may have created a list, then manually linked to templates. If so, you can use EE tags to eliminate the list and have Expression Engine do the work for you.

EE is a powerful CMS tool. You’ll be amazed at what it can do.

Thanks, I think I might’ve been unclear.

The single entry pages that come up when you click on the entries are generated automatically from a mystery template. I have not created a template for this and I can see no template in the template group. The appearance of the page is similar to the parent page, but with one entry and no header.

If it is still unclear, I will try to come back with some more detail/links when I am next free.

Thanks

What do you mean, mystery template? It’s probably site/index, if you went with the default. Got a link to the site?
