I currently have EE v1.2 with the Forum add-on. What will it cost to upgrade to the latest version and the forum upgrade? Would the upgrade be v1.6 or 2.0?

I’m considering hosting on 1and1.com. Is there any EE recommedations or advice, bad or good, on hosting using 1and1.con? Any current EE customers using 1and1.com for hosting, or dose Ellis keep track of where EE users host thier sites?

You will need to renew your download privileges for both EE ($19.95 for a non-commercial or $39.95 for a commercial license) and the forum module ($9.95 / $19.95, respectively).

Would the upgrade be v1.6 or 2.0?

This would get you access to the download area, where you can download the latest version and build. Currently, that is EE 1.6.3. EE 2.0. will be released sometime in the summer.

We not keep track of where our customers host their sites. There are many capable hosts out there, and EE requirements (PHP + MySQL) are pretty standard. If you want to know what other customers have to say about a particular host, you can search the forums or ask in the appropriate Community forum.

If you use 1and1 just bear in mind that their servers are located in Germany, this may or may not affect your search engine results. You best bet would be to host in the country where most of your visitors reside.

I’m using 1and1 with an EE site without any problems to speak of.  The site gets pretty good Google rankings too so no detriment there.
