Hello,

I did some extensive reading here in this forum and like what I see.  I would like to launch a site with the functionality of www.chrono24.com . Users should be able to create an account and upload basic information and maybe a few pictures.  I want to offer my services for free, so payment solution integration is not so important.

I have basic html skills and understand the concept of css.  I’m willing to buy the full commercial license if it can do what I need.  All the free open source software sounds nice, but I work full time and can’t sit there for weeks at a time figuring out how to install a script, etc.

I’m wondering if ExpressionEngine is for me.

Thanks

Frank

Hi Fendter,

Sorry it took so long for someone to answer this. Usually responses here are a lot faster.

Hello,

I did some extensive reading here in this forum and like what I see.  I would like to launch a site with the functionality of www.chrono24.com . I’m not familiar at all with Chrono24 so it will help if you spell out more specifically what functionality you need.

EE offers Member Profiles where a member can have an Avatar and a Member Profile Picture. You can also setup EE to allow Community blogging where members can contribute posts to blogs you’ve setup. For example, if you were running a sports car fan site you might have blogs for Corvetters, Ferraris, and Vipers and allow the community to post to those blogs.

I have basic html skills and understand the concept of css.  I’m willing to buy the full commercial license if it can do what I need.  All the free open source software sounds nice, but I work full time and can’t sit there for weeks at a time figuring out how to install a script, etc.

The first thing I would do is evaluate whether or not you enjoy working with EE. You can start by downloading EE Core, install it, and see if the way EE works clicks with you. If it does, you can give the $10 30-day hosted demo a try to test out the full version. You can find both options here.

I’d also recommend the following resources to get you started:

Thank you for your response.  I think I’ll sign up for the 30 day trial.
