This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I am experiencing a fatal error when trying to complete the install.

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in D:\VirtualHosts\domainname.com\httpdocs\system\db\db.mysql.php on line 314

I have sent in a support request to my host, however I thought someone might have some idea of whats going on.

Thanks.

Pete

Hm- you’re running into the same problem as the linked thread, but I doubt for the same reason.  The install shouldn’t kill it like that.

Do you mind quickly putting up the server wizard and running a check to be sure the specs check out ok.  Make sure to run the database check- that’s where things appear to be jamming up.

Make sense?  Also- I’m going to shift to ‘Install’ forum.

Hey Robin

Ran Wizard… Only thing that came back unsupported was URL segment support.  Database checked out ok.

Sorry I’m so slow on this one, had to do some code digging.

OK- if you look in the database- were tables created?

And don’t do it yet- but I suspect I may have you manually turn on debugging in system/db/db.mysql.php:

var $debug              = 0;            // Manually turns on debugging

Switch to 1- but don’t do this yet.

yup tables were created.  There were some tables for an install of wp that I have now removed.  Re-tried the install with the same result.

Hm- let’s see if it actually completed the db bits.  Last one looks to be:
INSERT INTO exp_actions (action_id, class, method) VALUES (’‘, ‘Search’, ‘do_search’

Via phpmyadmin, can you go in and browse the exp_actions table- see if you have a row in there with a class value of ‘Search’ and a method value of ‘do_search’.  Make sense?

Sorry for the delay, elpmedia.  Since it only partially installed the db, I’d drop all tables, put up a clean/empty copy of config.php- make sure it’s writable, flip debug to 1 as described above, and run the install again.  Let’s see if it was a one time quirk.

Did that make sense?  You can drop tables via phpmyadmin easily.  Then just do a redo.

Just heard back from my hosting company… “We do not provide support for third party scripts”  Guess they aren’t a team player???  Anyways… This is a Windows server. Would that cause these problems.  Also If I were to switch hosting companies is there a list of companies that EE is known for working well with?

As a rule, UNIX servers tend to make fewer problems, yes. If you are looking for a qualified EE host, you can’t go wrong with our sister company EngineHosting, although there are many other capable host out there as well.

Thanks for all your help guys.  Going to make the switch to a UNIX server.  I am super pumped to get working with EE and it seems that making the switch will allow me to get going quicker.

OK, we ready to close that one out then? (And, privately, I think switching’s a good choice.) smile
