I’m upgrading from the demo version to a full version of EE.

The install went fine, but when I tried to restore the database from my demo, it fails:

I can’t log on to the control panel (the login page just refreshes), and all the styling has disappeared.. please help!

Thanks,
Roger

Hi, Roger,

Let’s deal with getting you logged in first.  Can you add this to your config.php:

$conf['admin_session_type'] = "s";

that should get us in so that we can get the control panel fixed up for you.

Thanks Lisa,

I can get on the control panel now… but, I don’t have the images I uploaded to the demo version… is there anyway to retrieve them?

The demo backup is a backup of your database only, and the images are not stored in the database, so you’ll need to use your local copies for that.

Now, we still need to get you all straightened out so we can get that line out of your config.php and get your control panel styled.  Are you comfortable moving around the unstyled control panel? If so, I need you to find your way to Admin -> System Preferences -> General Config, and update both the URL and Path to your Themes folder. that should fix up the control panel styling.

After that, to fix up sessions, head over to Admin -> System Preferences -> Cookie Preferences and make sure those are filled out correctly for the current site.

I’m heading out for a little while but will check in with you later on this. =)

I have the styling back

The images is frustrating, as we had a number of galleries set up

The entries in your database for the photo gallery entries will still be there, but you’ll need to upload the images to their respective locations on your local server, in order to see them. =)
