There’s a good chance I might be the proud owner of a female Boxer pup at the end of May, and she’s gonna need a name.

I already have two cats (Scraggles and Tiggy) so her name can’t sound like those - and it can’t sound like ‘no’ as it’s important to distinguish name and ‘no’.

So my current favourites are Taylor and Georgie. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Hi Andy,

Sorry no suggestions here other than I always think that names have to come from the heart. My wife and I have two cats and we named them from the heart and I really do believe that animals know this (you can think I’m mad if you like) and will respond to you in a much better way than if someone else provides names.

Sorry to poo poo the idea though isn’t meant to sound too negative just my own personal thoughts really.

Hope you find a great name soon, I’m sure you will.

Best wishes,

Mark

How about Laila. She is a female boxer too! (daughter of Muhammad Ali).

Bonus, you can sing Clapton to her.

Hmmm. Long ago, before I can remember, my parents had a boxer.

His name was Bobo.  shock

Haha, was he really disobedient? “No, Bobo, no!”

I like Laila, though I’m not sure I’d want to subject anything to my singing, man or beast.

Best wishes,

Mark

My boxer is Maggie.  She either has the worst dog ADD ever, or is just a complete moron.  I can’t figure it out, although I am starting to lean towards the latter.  =) I can say she loves us dearly & has made it her ‘job’ to make us happy.

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains

Li la li…

Different “boxer”, but I’d go for Garfunkel!

Derek, got any songs for a border collie?

Our Lucy is a sweetheart, but she has no concept of “fetch.”

Derek, got any songs for a border collie?

Springsteen - Across the Border, or the Eagles - On the Border?  Hm, neither have the right ring.  Fleetwood Mac - Tallahassee Lassie?  Wait, wrong collie.  Perhaps the song by this lady?  Ok, now I give up.

Our Lurcher is called Skateboard. The only song fitting for her would be She’s Lost Control by Joy Division smile

Tags would be a fine, appropriate name.

just fyi, as a boxer owner myself here are a couple of tips.

1. Survive the first six months.
2. Train intensely during months 6-12
3. Around 1 year your boxer will likely undergo a drastic maturity change and become one of the best dogs on the planet.

But I can’t emphasize #2 enough. Boxers are very intelligent, athletic, active dogs. If you don’t train them early you’ll miss out on just how incredible they really are.

Cheers, all tips appreciated. I’m thinking I might need to read up on training so I do it properly, or as close to properly as I can.

“Survive the first six months” sounds ominous though.
