i’ve developed a plugin that allows you to really quickly and easily develop an iPhone web app. i’d like to get some feedback from the community, you’re all invited to watch the demo of how it works and leave some feedback.

thanks!

That’s pretty neat Ben.

I actually have a few applications that are in the works on EE, so it’d be interesting to see how it’s working.

Thanks!

Excellent Idea. But, I don’t see why you would need a module to accomplish this. Or, will you provide us a way to retrieve information from expression engine for parsing and display in a native iphone app? (also can be accomplished via RSS) Anyhow, bridging the gap between two great pieces of technology is always welcome.

I am interested in a module that will allow me to easily port my clients web-apps to the i-phone platform but I think to make it “Cool” for lack of better terms, you need to bridge the gap between standard HTML and Apple’s SDK interfaces. You know like a “Staples Easy Button”

Other then that, every one will still need to develop for yet another browser platform.

It would be easier to evaluate if I could try it. smile

The iPhone comes with Safari, you don’t _need to_ change anything!
You might want to optimize the viewport to scale nicely though.

@ben, you might want to look at Apple’s Dashcode (part of the developers tools) instead of iui…  zipper

Your absolutely right Cocoaholic, websites do not need modified with the iPhone browser. But to take full advantage of the iPhone browser one must consider it’s limitations. Hence, another browser to code for.

I am hoping that Ben is trying to make a Module that will interact with Apples SDK’S API’S so I can create a “iPhone Template” that will take full advantage of all of the capabilities that Apple has provided.

I think we need to see more from Ben to determine what direction he is headed. Is it either a template redirect, or a module with functionality

I am opting for a module with functionality.

the alternative is to hard-code the html pages. the module simplifies the process and makes it available from within EE.

the iphone SDK is for developing native apps for the iphone.  this module, on the other hand, is for developing web apps.  in other words, websites that are specifically designed for iphone users, such as 101cookbooks
