Hi,
I have been playing around with EE for some time now through a sub-folder on my server behind my current site.

I’m now ready to take the plunge and use EE for my main site. Do I need to re-install EE at the root level or can I just move the contents out of the subfolder to the main directory?

You can just move it, and change the paths in your config.php and the control panel.

Ingmar’s right- you can just move it and change paths.  The kblog goes into a bit more detail.  And note- all you really have to move is a copy of path.php and index.php- change the path.php to point one level deeper to get to the system folder.  Purely a matter of preference re: whether you move the system folder itself.

That do the trick?

Thank you both, and for the link to the blog. Before I posted the question I looked all over the place, but my search was flawed.
I will be moving the site this weekend, will let you know.
Thank you again.

wink  There is a lot of material.  Just let us know if you run into any problems with it.  Usually, it’s a simple job.  And keep in mind- if you run into trouble and can’t login, preferences can always be overridden by edting the config.php directly.
