Error Number: 1060

Description: Duplicate column name ‘ip_address’

Query: ALTER TABLE `exp_mailing_list` ADD `ip_address` VARCHAR(16) NOT NULL AFTER `list_id`

I found this problem reported elsewhere. How do I deal with this and what is the cause?

Do you have any mailing lists, pserko? If not, click on “Uninstall” with the module, then “install” again.

I removed or de-installed in Modules CP, is that what you meant?

I now get this error:
Error Number: 1060

Description: Duplicate column name ‘text_fmt’

Query: ALTER TABLE `exp_email_cache` ADD `text_fmt` VARCHAR(40) NOT NULL AFTER `mailtype`

Ok, you uninstalled it - then did you reinstall it?

Also, can you open up config.php and let us know what app_version says?

Ok, backup.  You reinstalled?  Do you mean restored from backup?  Or did you actually run install.php?

Sorry.

I removed the mailinglist module as you suggested.  Reinstalled it and still get the same error.  I failed to understand your initial instructions and did not reinstall the mailinglist module thus the new error message.

to recap:
I de-installed (removed)the mailinglist mod and then reinstalled and ran update.php with same resulting error.

Alright. Are you sure that you were on 1.6.0? It sounds to me like you may have already been on 1.6.1.  You can try to update config.php to 161 and then run update.php again and see if that helps.

Brilliant!!!
We swapped webservers a while back and ran an update but we ended up rolling back to an earlier version but must have already altered the DB, the config listed the version as 1.60.  It was indeed already 1.61.  It all works!!!

I can put away the paper bag I was going to use to keep from hyperventilating!

Many thanks for your prompt service and expert help
