Upgrading 1.6 to 1.6.2 - which index file to use?

I finally got around to upgrading to 1.6.2.

Everything went smoothly until the end, when I accidentally moved the index.php file from my system folder into my utilities folder (thinking it was the offline.html file - I had renamed it before moving it there).

I went into the downloaded 1.6.2 folder on my computer to upload the index.php in my system folder but found out that it was date stamped with: 1/1/06 with a size of 143.

The index.php that was there before was 9/1/07 and had a size of 134.

I take it the 9/1 date is the day I uploaded it and that I should replace that index.php with the new one (since it is larger).

The reason I’m asking is that the upgrade instructions make no mention of replacing this file.  Index.html in the system directory is the same size.

The rest of the upgrade went smoothly and everything seems to be running correctly.

Also - one more newbie question: I was using Transmit and of course forgot to make sure they were uploaded in ASCII format.

I checked my preferences and found that I had it set for Transfer Mode - Auto.  Am I still cool or do I have to re-upload everything?

Transfer ‘auto’ hasn’t given me any troubles with uploading EE files, so I don’t forsee a problem for you.  If you do run into an error, we’ll keep it in mind.  But I don’t think you will.

As to the index.php files- they almost never change.  If one does need to be replaced, it will be noted in the version notes for the upgrade.

So- to be sure all is well, just grab a fresh copy of EE.  You can replace the index.php file above the system folder with a fresh one and the one inside with a fresh one.  Just be sure you don’t mix them up.  All should be fine after that.

Make sense?

(And I’m going to shift this up to the install forum, just for organizational purposes.)

Perfect sense -

And as always, thank you for the quick and helpful support - EE has no peer.
