Like most, I’m using Google Analytics and think its a great tool. However, I really hate that it doesn’t show you IP addresses for visitors. I also use pmetrics, but it doesn’t seem to be very accurate. I know I’ve been on my site a few times a day, but it may only record one or two site visits. I use statcounter also, but only on a couple pages. I may have to expand the use of that.

I’m considering purchasing Mint. Does anyone have any good experience or suggestions.

See if ShortStat will do what you need. Not as polished as Mint, but free.

I’m a huge fan of Mint. It’s actively maintained and there’s a nice community of “Pepper” (add-on) developers so you can extend it well past the base package. I also use Google Analytics, which is great for setting up campaigns and tracking specific activity. If you’re just looking for basic stats, Mint (or ShortStat) will be much easier to use.

Do note that Mint can only be used on a single domain, unlike Google Analytics, which will allow you to track multiple domains.

Here are some links for you. Don’t know if they are any good?

StatCounter
AWStats
Webalizer
Analog
W3Counter
AdFreeStats
Reinvigorate
Feedburner Statistics
Clicky
MyBlogLog
Crazy Egg
103 Bees
HiTail
W3 Counter

I’m not too sure about what each one does in detail but these range from simple to quite advanced so there might be something in there that may help you out?

Ingmar perhaps you could post a link to ShortStat as I know it exists as I once looked into that myself, at least I was pretty sure it was that one but I just did a quick web-search and ended up going around on a wild goose chase looking for it so a link would be nice please wink

Anyway hope these help out a bit. If not then perhaps they will be of use to someone else in the future.

Best wishes,

Mark

Well, not all that much info there: http://shauninman.com/archive/2004/11/16/shortstat_maintenance is all I’ve got.

Considering that Shortstat hasn’t been maintained for almost 3 years I’d actually recommend against it especially if you need something for a client-based project. I should point out that I’ve never used Shortstat, its just the principle of using 3 year old, unmaintained code that I’m bringing up.

Mint is unbelievably cheap, the Mint community is quite helpful, and Shaun is a great developer with a history of addressing issues quickly which makes the $30 money well spent.

Typically I find a combo of Google Analytics and Mint to do everything I need for most analytics stuff.

Thanks Leslie. I was leaning toward Mint. I just wanted to hear from someone on this forum.
I agree with you $30 is cheap and well worth it for good stuff. Same as I feel regarding other things I have purchased from EE or EE programmers.

To be honest, I wonder if most people are like me. These forums are of course geared first and primarily for EE. But when I have other ‘web’ type questions, these forums are usually my first stop for finding answers. It’s kinda of like the Verizon commercials. This is my “trusted” network.

Leslie,

Mint is NICE!! I also download about 11 peppermills!! Question though, how database space does it use for all the captured information. Have you ever had any problems. Any “gotchas” I should watch out for?

I haven’t personally had any issues regarding db space but I don’t use a lot of peppers either. This is one of those things that someone in the Mint community could probably shed a lot more light on.
