I had just installed the safari browser on win, I couldn’t get it to play in my favorite browser firefox either. It loads the click to play EE logo, but clicking it and it just hangs. Safari ran it fine.
It could be my QT plugin, QT’s always been temperamental, at least on win imo. Just bug reporting to be helpful. (edit: downloaded the latest Qt plugin now I see the Q with the question mark in front, still no work-ee).
I have even downloaded the movie file and run locally, so I know I have the right QT version… Anybody esle have the same problem?
BTW - EE 2.0 looks terrific
I’m on a Mac and I got the Quicktime problem as well - said I needed to upgrade Quicktime but I am on a daily system update on the Mac so I have the latest Quicktime - but when I clicked the download the file link bottom left the videocast opened up and played in my browser.
Can those who were having problems with the movie container clear their browser and Quicktime caches and try it again? There was a path issue in one of the object tags that I just fixed up.
Raises an interesting point though: maybe for the Lounge ... what is the best way to deliver Quicktime? Make a special page for it and have all the object / embed stuff in there - or ... just link to it and let the browser deal with it (or not?)
How did you do this one? Why is it different from the ones in the video tutorials? And did you know that the ones in the video tutorials are not set for auto start?
CJ
If you post to the Lounge with that, I’ll be happy to answer it, but don’t wish to derail this topic to a conversation about Quicktime. :-D
Loads fine for me now too, in ff on win, all that, sorry for whining. Thought it important an issue for future screencasts was the main reason for chiming in.
It’s a very pro screencast, love it.

Yep working a treat now!
It’s the little bits of usability that have got me so excited - simple things like the sorting tables, something I did ask for a while back in feature requests, that will make EE an absolute joy to use. Overall very, very impressive. I have not been this excited about a piece of software since Firebird brought Elite out on the Spectrum…
I guess two big curiosities of mine involve relationships and revisions. Does 2.0 keep the same paradigm in these areas as the 1.X branch? Inquiring minds want to know!
I haven’t heard anymore news about EE2.0 and it has been weeks. I feel all of the excitement has kinda died off (tends to happen when you don’t get news and all). Anything new?
Could it be that they’re still busily working on it?
Yeah I understand that completely. I’m just saying that I got all excited because of they great news, the screenshots and the videos, but it’s frustrating to want more news and not get it.. hehe. That’s just how anxious i am! :p
And sorry to “boink” this up. But i still remember this post and all between then and now. I didnt think that it takes this long to get hands into 2.0. - Still waiting…
So for further years: is this common task to do - letting out sneak previews year before “major update”?
I dont mean any harm but Summer went, soon winter is halfway, and again, summer comes. I dont practice this kind of previewing to my clients but i guess this is very common in this scene?
sorry - did not know where to put this.
I need a website built.
I want to put together a continuing education website.
With this website I need it to;
Let a student register - name, ss#, license #, address and email.
They preview courses available.
When someone pays a course / test it should give them a pdf file school course (they could print) and test (I created) with options multiple choice questions (test part they cant print only online) Make it so it can auto grade the test and at the end state pass if 70% of questions were correct? If no pass they can take it again and again with no change of order of test questions. Test questions will range from 25 to 50 multiple choice questions.
Once a 70% is achieved it needs to create a printable certificate that populates their name and course name. There will be 2 different website both the same just different tests and will have about 8 courses and tests and room needed to grow.
Need to set up email for a future time to be sent out as reminders for different events such as licensing due?
Can it set up subscriptions to last for a year for taking a test? And then turn off?
Can it hold their tests and passing grades in their file / profile for a couple of years - so if they return they can print out their certificate?
Some software that is out there is: www.wondershare.com , www.PC-shareware.comqzscript.com , www.atrixware.com , www.crisolmind.com , They are kind of expensive and dont do exactly what I want. But they are close to what I want but maybe needs to be tweaked.
Is there some way you can do it? Some way we can use someone elses software and do it?
My budget is $300-$800 USD for this project.
