Even though there are new posts and active topics whenever you click either of those buttons at the top of the boards it comes up with this:

I haven’t done any modifications to the forum at all really so I’m confused as to why this isn’t working…any ideas?

EDIT: For the record my search works properly when I’m searching for something using words (the standard way).

Are the posts made by other people? Do you have a link to where we can see this?

Yes, there are posts made by myself as well as others, and I’ve had multiple people confirm that it doesn’t work.

I’ll check that out, I just noticed one more strange behavior that may or may not help us.

When I click “View Pending Posts” the search results are successful and show two threads.  One made by me (an Administrator) that is locked and stickied.  The other is a thread by one of our members with nothing special about it.  I have it so that no sections should require any authorization by me, not to mention his thread already posted and has been replied to by a few people so it certainly isn’t pending, nor should my other post be.  Any ideas on that?

Wow…well that’s good to see it working.  Could it be since I just switched over to my domain from the hosts default address it could need some time to propagate the DNS or something…  I’m not sure if that would be related to this, next time someone posts I’ll try it again.

EDIT: Well “View Today’s Active Topics” is indeed bringing up search results, but it only brought up two threads and there are more threads with activity in them today than that…any idea on why it only brings up two?

There was just a new post on my forum and the search still returns no results for me.  Any idea why it would do that for me?  And any idea why the above “View Today’s Active Topics” issues is happening?  The forums are practically the default install, I haven’t really done anything special, and I’m on EngineHosting.

EDIT: Not to mention also the issue of it coming up with results for Pending Posts, when if I’m understanding things right I shouldn’t have any.

Which theme are you using?

As far as Pending posts go, I see two of them.

The pending posts are posts that don’t have a reply.

I’m using FireFox for Windows, not sure if that is the issue.

In other words, things are behaving for me the way I expect them to.

I’m using Firefox with Windows XP as well and the default “Grey” theme.

When I click “View Today’s Active Topics” it only lists three even though many more than that have been active today.

When I click “View New Posts” it only found one, the thread about The Orange Box.  However, someone had replied to the thread called “few requests” in the “Site Feedback” section and that DID NOT come up, even though it was a new post.  It seems inconsistent so I’m rather confused.

When I click “Pending Posts” it does indeed show threads with no replies, I thought Pending Posts referred to posts you had required to be approved by a moderator before being posted, my mistake (though I do find it strangely named).

EDIT: There was another new post in General Discussion, it isn’t showing up either.  I need to verify but it appears that it’s only showing me new threads and not threads that I’ve already seen that have since had new posts made in them.

What I’d do is to create a new user and view the site using another browser such as Opera. That way you have no built in cookie issues.

I replied to your post, this isn’t working at home or at work for me…and also as I said there were a ton of active posts today but clicking that link only brings up two.  The only one that APPEARS to be working correctly is the pending posts.

After more testing it really appears the “View New Posts” is in fact only showing new THREADS.  Even if five replies have been posted, if I’ve already seen that thread it isn’t taking me to them.  It marks the folders correctly so I can click through to what I haven’t seen but the “View New Posts” certainly isn’t working correctly.  Also, the “View Today’s Active Topics”, is that supposed to show any topic that had a reply today or what because I can’t figure out what it’s showing and why.  Does it require a certain number of posts that day to be considered “active”?

Well…even though there have been a lot of posts today “View Today’s Active Topics” is coming up empty.  It’s the weekend so I’ll have some time to dedicate to this and I’m going to try the suggestions from the other thread.

This still isn’t working properly even after re-uploading the forum files, do I need to re-upload the skins too?

There are SEVEN threads with new posts, but when I search for all new posts it only comes up with THREE different threads with new posts.  Please advise.

EDIT: An additional detail.  It appears that any thread that had a new reply over (roughly) 1 1/2 hours ago DOES NOT show.  Anything UNDER 1 1/2 hours DOES show.  Viewing Today’s Active Topics does the same thing, neither are showing everything they should and are malfunctioning.  However, the Pending Posts still appears to be working properly.

It wouldn’t hurt to reupload them. But make sure to test with a theme that hasn’t been modified.

OK, I uploaded the Developer skin to test and same problem.

And I see 31 topics listed.

I haven’t visited since before the weekend..
