I am trying to upload a 5,173 word article into EE. About the last third of it keeps getting cut-off. I thought it might be because I was paginating the article but cutting the pages down to just 7 didn’t help.

Is there a limit to the number of words you can put in an EE article? If so, what is it and why is it limited.

Thanks,
Bill

IT’s because of a MYSQL field, it’s set to TEXT instead of MEDIUMTEXT or LONGTEXT.

TEXT: A character large object column with a maximum length of 65535 (2^16 - 1) characters.
MEDIUMTEXT: A character large object column with a maximum length of 16777215 (2^24 - 1) characters.
LONGTEXT: A character large object column with a maximum length of 4294967295 (2^32 - 1) characters.

If go you into your mysql database and change your field to MEDIUMTEXT or longtext..all will be fine

I did a feature request about this -to make it LONGTEXT by default- hope someday they do it. (small effort to change it)

Thanks very much, Victor. Went into my MYSQL server and couldn’t quite figure out where to make the change. Would you kindly give a few more directions about where to go to make the change.

Thanks again,
Bill

You need to figure out which field needs to be changed.

Here’s a melding of two screen shots for esquel, my PHPMyAdmin program I use instead.

EEHowTo Wiki: HowTo Change the Field Length for the Body Field

I really should migrate this over to the regular EE wiki.

Thank, Sue. Already got my answer. And I got an e-mail from another EE client who profited from it, as well.
