EE messages:

Welcome!
You are currently running ExpressionEngine: Version 1.6
If you have followed the Update Instructions and are ready to update your system, please click the link below
Update from Version 1.6 to Version 1.6.1

Error: The following error was encountered
MySQL ERROR:
Error Number: 1146
Description: Table ‘***.exp_mailing_list’ doesn’t exist
Query: ALTER TABLE `exp_mailing_list` ADD `ip_address` VARCHAR(16) NOT NULL AFTER `list_id`

And I have:

ExpressionEngine 1.6.0
Build:  20071112

What to do in this situation?

Yes, my EE MySQL doesn’t have this table. And I don’t see it in my backup dated 06/27/2007.

No prob, looks like a table just got mis-referenced.

Could you open up system/updates/ud_161.php and find this on line 32

$query = $DB->query("SHOW tables LIKE 'exp_mailing_lists'");

and make it

$query = $DB->query("SHOW tables LIKE 'exp_mailing_list'");

and try again?  (Note removal of an “s” from the table name.

I suspect you didn’t have the mailing list installed- does that sound likely?  I’ll go poke the update file- see if it was/should be checking for that.

removal of an “s” from the table name.

Thanks, that solved the problem.

Should I modify these upgrade files in the future (to remove ‘s’)?

No need to worry about it sigork, we’ll feed the fix into the update file shortly - so this should never affect you again.
