I have seen this a lot around the forums lately, excluding my own help request.  It would be nice to have a tag to count the number of entries in a given category. 

I know it can be done with a convoluted SQL query now, but something built in would be so much nicer.

Agreed- this would be handy.  And while we’re talking stats- it would be nice to have ‘last entry date’ and maybe even ‘last comment’ date on a per category basis as well.

A category count tag would definitely be useful.

Agreed on the category entries count feature. I would categorize this as a basic yet essential feature.
