Hi,

the german weblog update listing blogg.de needs to be pinged in the following style:

http://ping.blogg.de/?name=[weblogname]&url=[full url to weblog]&rss=[full url to rss feed]

...but with EE’s url style of ...index.php/templategroup/template, the full ping url does not fit into the field any more & gets truncated.
(my names are not especially short, I admit, but then, they are not especially long either).

so, a longer url field would be helpful.

thanks,
Chronistin

It’s set to 100 characters right now.. You could manually change it yourself. But what would be a better value for you?

255?

Those ping server fields are meant for services accepting a weblogs.com-like XML-RPC ping and not a more URL based approach as blogg.de seems to be doing.  Even if your data did all fit into that field, it might not work.  You might consider creating a bookmark in your browser and just hit it after making an entry.

Hm, I wonder if the people at blogg.de have PHP on their server.  It is pretty darn easy to set up an XML-RPC server if you have a library for it.

Thanks for your answers. Following Paul’s idea, I digged around a little on their site, and actually found the xml-rpc-url (not under pinging, but under extras, that’s why I hadn’t seen it before).  I’ll see if it works…

thanks again,
