I’ve been searching all over for this and can’t seem to find an answer, so it’s probably right in front of my nose…

I want to set up a links list.  There is a wiki article here that describes pretty well how to do it, BUT I need to be able to keep track of how many times each link gets clicked, much like the ‘hits’ counter on each regular entry.

I noticed that when I’m in my CP and I click the ‘My Site’ link in the top right corner, the link is structured like this:
{url/to/expression/engine}/?URL={url/to/site}
so I know there is some type of URL redirect system built into EE.  I just can’t seem to figure out how to find the stats!

Can anyone help?

If you’re looking for an EE native solution, maybe someone else has ideas. I usually let Google Analytics handle this stuff though by adding an onClick event to my hrefs.

This allows me to easily track how much traffic I’m sending to other sites.

EDIT: EE’s forum software removed the word “javascript” from my code above and replaced it with “[removed]”.

You should check out Yoshi’s Linklist Module.  It has a tag that allow for clickthru counting.

{count_linkcode}

Identical to the {normal_linkcode} variable, except this will show the URL that will increment the clickthru counter for the link. eg.:

cybrpunk.com
