How can I use category names in permalink url?

I have set up a news weblog as a section of an existing site. My weblog has several categories. I would like to display article summaries within the entires tag pair on my index page and then use a permalink within the entires to link to the full body of the articles. I would like the category name to be part of the url in the permalink. How can I do this?
