ActiveCollab 1.0 pricing and release date confirmed. We used AC .7.1 to manage the redesign of pMachine.com to the EllisLab network. I’m really hopeful that AC 1.0 will be a legit, self-hosted alternative to Basecamp.
It’s been a few days since this thread was active, so I thought I would jump in and voice my support for Stephen’s little project! I’ve been planning to build a simple PM interface into my web site for personal use but don’t feel the urge to re-invent the wheel if it can be avoided.
Besides, as you can probably guess by my awesome post count, I still have my hands full learning how to use EE effectively.
Well, I may be making a mistake by saying this, but I expect to have a “sneak peak” ready by sometime before this weekend’s up. I’m about as far as I will be able to take it for a while. It’s coming along nicely, but there are a few hurdles to overcome to get it working just right.
EDIT/ADD: I’ve added a few “features” and reworked my approach a bit.
I’m afraid those issues are a bit out of my league at this time… I have yet to even implement categories on my own site (my first EE project). I’m still trying to work out when I would use the categories tag vs. the category_headings tag vs. the category_archive tag.
I have to confess I am a little surprised that none of the EllisLab folks have spoken up on either of your questions as they usually seem to stay on top of these things.
I’ve sent everyone that has been a part of this thread a private message. It was my first mass private message, so hopefully everyone received it okay. Let me know if you didn’t.

Hi Stephen,
I’ve been silently following this thread (and have subscribed to it for some time) - just wondering if you could send me a PM as well
Stephen - that’s a really great start! How are the screen shot images done for the design review - not the lightning images but when you go a level deeper and you have the 3 portrait holding images (classed as “carousel”) numbered 1, 2 and 3 showing with arrows right and left to take you to images 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 - it looks like Flash but I don’t think it is…
the demo site looks great. I also really like the image rotator (fan of jQuery as I see). Really nice layout overall.
I am not quite sure on how we can comment on the functionality since most of it is turned off.
I’ll spend some time to imagine on entering my project data and let you know if I have more comments than looks good (though it really does
How does the percentage completed bar work - is based on the start and proposed delivery date or is there some other control on that?
The Design Review section works well. A nice graphic ‘Review Now’ button rather than the text would help the user get into the guts of the reviewing section (although I do understand what it’s like to be releasing unfinished work and this is only a small little usability thing).
With the jCarousel it doesn’t appear that they offer tags/labels to accompany the images, however when having a full image mockup on each of those sliding images it would be nice to have a tag/label that would then correspond to the section headings in the main part of the page. That way there is no need to put any overlays on the image in PS beforehand and it is easy to see to the client that the picture they are looking at is referenced directly in the more details text below.
Apart from that the front end of this looks like it’s progressing really well.
