Disable custom fields

It would be nice to be able to enable or disable custom weblog fields at will.  There are times I’d like to remove a custom field from displaying at all in the publish form, but I don’t want to lose the data that’s been entered in this field for various entries.

I suppose this request would become moot if you guys disambiguate fields from field groups, like I’ve suggested before (where fields do not have to belong to one particular group).  But until then, this would suffice.

I don’t think you quite have the right verb to describe what you want, as there is no ambiguity as to which fields belong in which groups, but I understand what you’re asking, and an extension could handle that for you Arden.

However, I will look into finding or creating an extension to disable fields.
