We are in the middle of two significant events. The first is Rick’s birthday, which was yesterday. “Working with this fine team I don’t feel a day over 90” stated Mr. Ellis. The second event is the imminent release of ExpressionEngine 1.6. The internal beta is going very well, the docs are 99% done, the advisory board has advised, and the Pro Network given a sneak preview a couple days ago. The dev team is taking a small breather this weekend and the time is nigh for some foolery, celebration, and weekend fun. This is also a rather long post but if you read to the end there is a contest to win a free copy of the new Multiple Site Manager, plus you get to see a scary picture of “angry Rick.”
So… this preview you gave the Pro Network members: same preview you sent the Advisory Board? Or was there more that I missed by not checking my email thoroughly? (Nothing I missed, I just did some digging.)
Same preview for both, though their are a few people on the Ad Board who are actively working on projects that are going to help test a few things. As D. Jones posted in the Pro Network forums “we cannot discuss who will or will not get invited to the public beta, but obviously those that are eager and willing to test are considered before those that may likely not even unzip the files.”
If we have open beta invites we’ll make a blog announcement. But right now it looks like we have a good group of beta testers with projects to test with.
lol, just a general announcement. With this release we’re attempting to be more open than usual since the EE Community has asked for that. I removed the “real” because it sounded inflammatory. I just meant that a couple people on the Ad Board that contacted us have projects that match very closely the features we want to test in a live situation.
Great demo video…really like the new multi-site and forum stuff. Can’t wait for the surprise feature either
Now, about that photo contest…where’s Bushtit when we need him
