Hello all grin

I would love to learn how to write a plugin or an extension for my EE projects.

What do I need to consider when approaching such a task?
What are some of the good practices you recommend?
What is absolutely tabu and needs to be avoided by all means?
Are there any EE related documents/tutorials/sheets/tips/forum posts/topics or similar I can read up on to educate myself?

Thank you in advance! grin

I would recommend the development docs as well as perusing the modules, plugins, and extensions technical support forums here and possibly even examining other plugins/extensions for their methods.

And feel free to post for help in those forums while you develop your add-ons. =)

As usual, Lisa is spot on with her answer.

When I first started learning, I learned best by cracking open other plugins/extensions and seeing how they were made. If I had questions, I would browse the forums looking for an answer. There are a lot of brilliant people who check the forums regularly, so you’re bound to get an answer to your questions.
