That was a bad title.

What I’m doing, is I have two sections on my main page of my site. The first is the last 5 entries of my journal, which is the bulk of my site. The second is a mix of the last 5 entries from all the rest of the sections.

What I want to do, is setup a {permalink} on the title to get to that entry. However, I need to find a way to do a {permalink=group/template} that is built on the fly based on the section the entry is from.

Is there a way to pull the weblog shortname (Since all the tmplate groups match the weblog shortname) and then throw that in the group/template portion of permalink?

If you’re using EE 1.1, then you can do this based off of the “Comment Page URL” path you have under Admin > Weblog Management.

Take a look at the weblog entries tag variables and you’ll want to look at:

- {comment_entry_id_auto_path}
- {comment_auto_path}
- {comment_url_title_auto_path}

The first or last will create links to the entries, while the middle one is simply the exact path you have set in the preference.
