Is EE wiki like discussion forum where there is one for all subdomains or can we have multiple wikis on different topics on different subdomains?

You can have multiple wikis. One of my clients has English, German, Swedish, Finnish, Korean and Chinese wikis on the same site.

My record is 7 wikis on one site.

That’s fantastic. . . we’ll have 10.

Where can I find directions on how to do this?

Many thanks

You’d create ten different wikis first.

Then you’d create ten different templates or template groups.

You’d also need ten different wiki_themes.

Here’s an example template:

{exp:wiki base_path="indigo/index" wiki="wiki_indigo" theme="indigo"}

and another one:

{exp:wiki base_path="lemonade/index" wiki="lemonade_wiki" theme="lemonade"}

I would have created a wiki called wiki_indigo and lemonade_wiki and two different themes, indigo and lemonade.

I could also have used a template group called lemonade and one called indigo.

Does that help?

Just as a note - if you want them to all look the same, then you could use the same theme .  If you wanted to use subdomains with this then you’d follow the instructions in the docs for runnings sites from subdomains, only using Sue’s instrutions for the templates/groups.

Thanks, Sue =)

Lisa’s right. There are several ways you can do what you want. As an aside, you can also have different themes for the *same* wiki. Which I’ve done too.

*nods* Because it’s specified in the template, it makes it easy to do.  I essentially test wiki stuff with my data and the default wiki theme by just using a different template calling the default theme and my wiki shortname. =)

Sue:  where can we find directions to do different templates for the “same” wiki
so we can keep search, rs same for all?

Thank you for great support always.

Basically you create different wiki themes. Then you link to those themes instead of the default theme.

For instance, EE ships with two themes, default and azure. At one point I did a bunch of them when on a different server. Some I saved, some I just deleted.

Here’s an example: Purple Turn Wiki
