So sorry for the delay, everyone. I forgot that tonight was an elimination game for the Islanders, and beer + Chris != good code…
So now that I’m all (well, mostly) sobered up, here’s the (long awaited?) pre-release for Hemingway: Hemingway 1.0 Pre-Release
A few things worth mentioning:
1) I really wouldn’t use this on a live site as I’m sure things are going to change between this version and the final (not much, though).
2) I’m not at all happy with the right side of the footer area… I’m probably going to be doing some tweaking to get that looking much better.
3)I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do for a “complete archives” page, so there isn’t one included. The current archives template that you’ll see is for the “monthly archives” in the bottom area of the theme.
4) In the bottom area, the “recently” section has an 2 post offset so that you won’t see the current posts in the list. That can be changed, of course, but I thought it was silly to have them display twice.
5) In the bottom area again, I don’t have a Flickr account to test the plugin with, so I’m not exactly sure if the images will display nicely. I’ve used the same code from the WordPress version of the theme so, in theory, it should look good. Get back to me on that one, if possible.
6) On the comments page I initially had the pagination links in the sidebar area, but I wasn’t too happy with how it looked. So to get around it, I slapped them below the posts. The only downside is that I had to close off the initial weblog_entries tag and start a new one for the sidebar information. If you think they would look better in the sidebar I’ll gladly move them there, which will also eliminate that extra weblog_entries call (though I think it’s fairly inconsequential…)
With all that said, check out the links on the pre-release page for where and how to report bugs. Enjoy!
Regards,
Chris
Edit: Forgot to mention that Hemingway does NOT play nice with Internet Exploder 7, but works ok with Exploder 6. For now, this is how it will remain until I get it fixed up. No need to report that as a bug.
Edit 2: Apparently, IE still doesn’t know how to add properly, so the percentage for the stories on the main page had to be reduced by one percent. All is well and the pre-release archive has been updated to reflect the changes. You just have to overwrite the site_css template with the one inside the tpl folder.
Edit 3: Wow, I suck… The template wouldn’t auto-install when creating a new weblog due to the 2 unknown stylesheets in there. Forgot to remove them when I initially tested it. Archives have been updated once again to reflect the changes, and now you just have to manually create the user_styles and white css templates via the tpl folder. Sorry for that…
