I know I can use an app to “clean up” URLs from Yahoo and other sites—links from these sites tend to trip up code validators.

Is there a plugin or other way in EE to do this? If such cleanup could be specified in the custom weblog fields dialog, that would be wonderful.

Do you mean to escape ampersands?

As far as I’m aware there is no auto way to do this - although textile may do it, I can’t recall.  Unless someone proves me wrong (very possible, i escape the ampersands manually so wouldn’t be surprisd if there was an easier way) you could put in a plugin request. =)

You could try using textile, or just making a general post - I just never checked.  I’d suggest this as a plugin as it really sounds like an addition =)
