Extension Request - Tab Forward

I have a client who just asked me if he could have the date tab brought forward by default on a particular weblog - and it struck me that this would be an extension that I would have used on several projects - not always the date tab - but if you could choose a tab to be brought forward by default per weblog.

I’d prefer to not have the tabs at all, but this would be the next best thing.

Excellent idea for an extension.

Here you go: Tab Forward extension

EDIT: updated to version 1.1

Wowzers Cocoaholic.  That’s the second time you’ve done that.  I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet but wanted to say thanks right away!

Might there be a language file missing?

Someone clearly wasn’t very awake yesterday… blank stare

Should be fixed now!

(please replace both files)

No, that works in the EDIT tab only, not in PUBLISH.

Hi sigork,

I’m pretty confident that build 20070208 works correctly.
Are you sure you set a preference for that weblog?

I’m testing on the exact same configuration on my Mac.

Maybe there is a conflict with another extension?

I am finding this tremendously helpful.  I have another installation where easy access to the date was critical.  I had the publish page extension installed which reverted the form to the tabless version but it didn’t support related entries and the quick save button was buggy.  This is a big improvement - thanks again!

Hi there,

Sorry to be a pain and drag this one up but I was wondering if it would be at all possible to get this extension to work with the Tag module that Solspace have on their site? I went to the Tab Forward extensions settings but the Tag tab doesn’t show up in the list.

Just wondering if there is possibly some way to get it to bring that one forward at all?

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

It seems you are referring to the unreleased v 2.0 of the Tag module.
Adding that tab would be very easy, but I need to see the code.

I’ll ask Mitchell to send me the new version wink

If you want/need it soon, PM me.

Hiya,

Yes sorry I should have mentioned that I was using the V2 of the Tag module. If you could possibly sent the code to me then that would be great thanks!
I did look through your extension and tried adding in Tag as one of the options in the list but it didn’t work so will wait for your code.

I wish I understood a lot more about extensions, plug-ins and modules then I could build them myself and release them to the EE community to help out also. As it is my knowledge is quite limited with PHP so really only quite simple queries and stuff ever come into my grey matter stuck above my noodle!! grin

Anyway if when you get a chance you could send over a copy of the altered code or maybe post it here in the forum (if that’s allowed seeing as how it relates to a module that isn’t out yet although as it isn’t out then the code won’t really be of any use to anyone other than those who have the module anyway) in case anyone else using Tag 2 needs it then that would be great thanks.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

What I meant was that I really need to have the Tag 2.0 module to know what to change in my extension.
But you can probably help me with that.

Could you save the html source of your EDIT page (with the Tag tab) and PM it?

Hiya,

Sending PM now. Do you not mean the code from the PUBLISH page though as this is where the extension works?
I have attached the html source for the publish page which currently has the Tag tab on it.

Thanks.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the file. Unfortunately not working I’m afraid. In fact none of the options work at all now. I did try disabling the extension first and then re-enabling the new one but nothing now.

Even if I try one of the standard tabs such as options that doesn’t work now.

Sorry :-(

Thanks for trying though. Maybe there is something else that can be done?

Best wishes,

Mark
