It would be nice if it would be possible to send URL’s (their content) by mail or mailinglist. This way I could make a specially formatted page and send that (in HTML-format of course). Or I could choose to send the contents of an existing page by mail.

Have you looked at the Tell-a-Friend feature?  If that’s not suitable, could you be more specific as to what you need to do and how that falls short?

Derek, what I need is the option on the communicate-page of the CP to specify an URL instead of the messagetext. That’s all smile  The content of that URL should then be sent.

So essentially you want something that would mimic viewing the HTML source of a page and cutting and pasting, but with a bit of elegance?

Yep smile And while you’re at it, such a thing would be nice for the tell-a-friend tag also. One could make a special ‘email-template’ for his mailinglist and such. I think once it is in place, that technology, people will come up with lot’s of creative things….

Well, I know they will, since the other CMS we’re using has such functionality.

Essentially with this relative minor adjustment (at least in Java it is), you will create a very flexible mailinglist system because the power and flexibility of the templates is behind it. Especially for automated mailinglists.

And maybe something like this?

{exp:mailinglist:send list=”...” url=”...”}

and / or

{exp:mailinglist:send list=”...”}
{!—message content goes here—}
{exp:mailinglist:send}

I can think of numerous applications, for instance some kind of notification system, or periodic mailinglists sending lists of newly placed articles.
