Lying in bed I realised it was probably the cache that needed clearing.  And it was.

Mark, if the cache does need clearing when you create one of these types of custom fields, would it be possible to do this automatically?

smallbeer, is there anyway you could attempt to recreate the issue?  Version 1.0.3 is only 457 lines, so it’s strange that you got an error on line 461.  Are you running 1.0.3?

just fyi - just tried this and “CP Home ›  Admin ›  Utilities ›  Clear Cached Data” did the trick for same issue with the “File” extension. too. Messages went away after that.

Glad to hear it Rob.  I’ll try to see why this is happening.

I’m actually running v.1.0.4 (downloaded from your site yesterday).  I cleared all cache but I’m pretty sure I just needed to clear “Cached Relationship Entries”.

And yeah I can recreate the error by just creating a new multi-text custom field and not clearing the cache.

Edit - yeah just cleared “Cached Relationship Entries” and the errors go away.

yeah it works but is there a way for the extension to do it automatically when you create a multi-text custom field ?

I’m not really sure what this extension has to do with related entries but you might be attempting some voodoo with v1.0.4 that I don’t understand yet wink

Alright, I’ve updated the extension to be 1.0.5 which should fix the error problems and also add a backspace=”” attribute a la Rob’s request.

the latest version 1.0.7 also allows you to limit rows by using the syntax col_1=“test”.

Perhaps I’m missing something. Is it possible to use Multi-Text in multiple field groups with different settings? For example, one field group might contain a multi-text field of committee members with three columns (headings name, position, professional affiliation), while another field group needs a multi-text field with five columns (headings name, rank, member number, phone number, e-mail address).

Also, the “documentation” link takes me to the list of your (many, wonderful!) extensions but to no actual documentation?

Mentioned in Mark’s original post:

For a little more control replace the number of columns with a space and the labels with a space [in the extension’s settings].  Then in the edit field page change the field type to a text field and enter the number of columns you would like in the textarea rows.  Then change it to a drop-down list and enter your labels in the drop down list box.  Finally change the field back to a multi text and you’re done.  Field specific settings.

thanks smallbeer, I was just about to write out a response/example, when I saw that I already had done that.
I missed it to brad, and I wrote it ::sheepishly::.

I’m trying to use this as a gallery so that I upload an image paste the code into the first column then add a caption as the second column but its outputting this…

<img src="{filedir_1}tree.jpg" style="border: 0;" alt="image" width="300" height="400" />

and not displaying…

is there a way around this?

Thanks!
