I’ve made simple extension, which allow vertically resize textareas in Publish area using 2 small icons right the textarea field.

CM Textarea Resizer extension

Installation:

1. Download the file “cm_textarea_resizer_extension_1.1.0”;
2. Upload the file named “ext.cm_textarea_resizer.php” to the /system/extensions/ folder;
3. Upload the file named “lang.cm_textarea_resizer.php” to the /system/language/english/ folder;
4. Go into the Extensions Manager, enable the extension and check the Settings;
5. Go to Publish area and put your cursor to textarea. Check the two icons right to field and resize it as you wish.
6. Enjoy the new EE feature.

There are any limitations. This extension do not working with WYSIWYG editors e.g. TinyMCE.

I’m just confused - why would you use this over just changing the normal of rows that are displayed, which resizes the textarea?

It’s really comfortable, because You can change the size while You’re editing the content, etc.

Thanks Gabriel!

Very nice indeed!

You might want to add a screenshot or description so people know what to look for…
It took me about 10 minutes to see those icons appear when I clicked inside a textarea red face

Thanks

I’d really like to include this functionality in the PublishImprove extension.  What say you?

Thinking about it that would be a great extension if it was applied to the Templates section edit textarea?

Just get Safari!! grin

Re-sizeable text areas as much as you can shake a stick at!! grin

N.B. This is not meant to take away from the excellent extension posted at the top of the thread, just to let people know if they didn’t already about the Safari option.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Mark

I would love to use Safari but I use Tabinta for Firefox which allows me to use the tab key to indent.

I will not be beaten!! grin

You could always use the Publish Page Improvements extension to allow you to do that! grin

Hope that helps.
