I want to use EE, I really do. It has all the features I want.

The only reason I don’t is because it doesn’t come with ONE Standards Compliant, Clean, and COMPLETE Default Template which can be used for a (1) blog, (2) forum, (3) wiki, and (4) ecommerce, (5) photo gallery when it comes out.

I find it strange that the default forum template lookings nothing like the included default blog template. In fact they are so different that they dont even look like the same sites!

Why doesn’t EE, forum module, ecommerce module, wiki module, mail module, photo gallery module, and blog come with a Standards Compliant, Clean, and COMPLETE Default Template so the sites can be put online “out of the box”?

I like many people just want a “out of the box” solution from which we can customize over time, right now I’d have to pay some designer $500-$1000 to make a single template i can use for all the modules before i could put the site online. This hidden cost is reason enough not to recommend EE to others.

Myself and others aren’t looking for something fancy. Even something as “simple” as Sinorca would be a good look, just something that I can make a complete “out of the box” site in an hour which looks useable.

I apologize if this sounded like a rant, it wasn’t meant to be.

EDIT:

Honestly I’d pay upward of $50-$100 to get a “complete” template which worked with all the modules and let me create a site “out of the box”.

It does sound a bit like a rant, but you make a valid point. A unified set of templates for all of the major modules would be handy for the novice user. It’s a good idea.

Ya sorry about the tone, I read it over and decided it didn’t deserve a major change.

I’d be willing to pitch in $50 or so to a fund to hire a designer to make a Unified Standards Compliant Default Template Pack which would make EE workable “out of the box”. Anyone else interested?

I’m working on a high end blog template.

It will be standards compliant, clean, featureful and flexible.
I hope to release and distribute it this year.
I’ll need the Photo Gallery, Forum and eCommerce modules (maybe the Wiki) so it’s likely that I’ll release templates for them too.

It’s good to distribute templates and to make modules look the same for an out of the box site,
but having a site looking the same as everyone else can hurt one’s image.
For example, I can’t bear anymore the very nice but overused kubrick template.
Fortunately, I have a solution to this, a secret solution for now wink

Well, if you were the creator of the Kubrick template, though, it would probably enhance your image, not hurt it.

Everything will be good in the end. If it’s not good, it’s not the end.

I meant that it’s not good for the bloggers.
Of course it’s all good for the designer.
