This is a low priority item… more of an annoyance than anything else…

Often when I write a new post to my weblog it’s when I’ve just read something that’s got me going.  This means that as soon as the publish is visible I click on the “Body” textarea and start typing.

Between web latency, and the speed of the server I’m on, the form is usually visible well before all of the page elements have loaded and before the Javascript runs.  So I can often get away with typing a sentence or two before the Javascript kicks in.

The problem is that once the Javascript runs, it ever-so-helpfully moves focus to the “Title” area.  Given the way I work, this really screws up my flow.  It’s especially aggravating if I’m typing the last word of a paragraph and hit ENTER to start a new one.  The focus change means that the last few characters end up in the title field and pressing ENTER prematurely invokes Preview.

I always have titles for my posts, but I usually don’t know the title until I’m midway through the body itself.  It’s one of those odd, parallel processing things, but that’s just how my brain works (the title usually just comes to me as I’m working).  Even in those cases where the network and server respond almost instantly I don’t fill in the Title first.  I just click away to the Body and come back to the Title later.

I’d like to see some kind of option to disable the automatic focus-change for those of us who work “backwards” from the expected flow.

(Sorry if this has already been requested, or there’s an option in the Control Panel that I missed.  I looked in the Control Panel and I scanned the titles in this forum before submitting, though, and didn’t see anything.)

We had this before, and I feel exactly like you. Luckily, there is an extension that solves this issue.

Thanks!  That did the trick.  My workflow is now unimpeded.

I guess I should have searched back a bit further in this forum, though.
