The iTunes Now Playing plugin was updated to a beta version this morning.  That means that it is essentially feature complete, but may need testing by a larger group of people to weed out any bugs or unusual behavior that might crop up.

If you use iTunes and have a personal blog, I encourage you to download and try it out.  Since it’s a beta version, it is still free for all to use regardless of whether it’s used in a commercial setting or not.

Cool,
I had it up and running in 5 minutes. Can’t seem to get it to display a small amazon image though. Will have another look later on. But well done. Always wondered how to go about implementing something like that on my site.

I’d first check that you’re using the right syntax for the small amazon image variable, and that it’s being parsed.  View the source of the HTML and see what it’s being replaced with.  If you still aren’t getting anything, check the uploaded XML file and make sure that there’s an XML tag for it.  Albums that the visualizer are not able to find on Amazon will not have the Amazon related tags in them, and therefore will be stripped from the output instead of leaving an ugly unparsed variable on your page.

Due to lack of space I have decided to just have a recent playlist.
Songs are being added to the xml but the tags are only parsing 1 song on the site?

Also your {badge} variable is not include in your blog entry

Thanks for the heads up about the {badge} variable.  Brandon Fuller’s iTunes visualizer only outputs one song in the XML file, the currently playing song, or an optional “stop” message if you aren’t playing a song, so unfortunately without him modifying the visualizer, there’s not a way to create a song history.

If it’s something that you’d use, post it to my blog as a feature request, so I’ll remember when I work on it again.  I might convert it to a module and give it db access to add that type of functionality.

In the Now Playing interface under the XML tab I can set the playlist length to whatever number I want. My xml is updated with the amount in here.
So the track(s) info is there in the xml. Don’t think there is a need for a module, just reworking the plugin a bit to simulate the array

Hm, must be different on the Mac version.  Brandon’s new to Mac development, so I guess he hasn’t made them function equally.  In which case, I’d probably still want to do it in the db on the EE side of things, so that it would work whether you’re using it on Windows or a Mac.
