When I look in the members profile templates I see that there’s an if statement for the spellchecker, but I can’t find a ‘Use spellcheck?’ setting anywhere.
Is there such a setting - if so, where can I find it?

It’s changeable, but you have to do it in the core.messages.php file itself.  Look for:

var $spellcheck_enabled = TRUE;

How can I disable the spellcheck for the forums part?

Well, I’ve found the code in the Forum templates: Post Submission Form Templates- Post Submission Form.  You’ll spot the ‘if’ there and could simply remove the spellcheck code.  I can’t find what sets the ‘if’- and was half figuring it used the message setting.  Let me poke some more.

Ok, I’ll do it that way intead.

That’s the reason I asked. I thought there must be some way of turning this to FALSE since the if thing was there.
Anyhow, I’ll do it the template way. I’ve already removed the char counter from there so it’s no big deal.

Thanks!

Yea- there has to be a way- but I’ve been poking the backend files for the forum and I haven’t spotted it yet.  I’ll bug the dev crew if I don’t figure it out before too long.  There’s an ‘if’- it has to be defined somewhere!

There is no switch for setting the {if spellcheck} conditional to false.  It is actually hardcoded into the forum files, so you will have to remove it from your forum templates.

Ok, that’s what I ended up doing anyway.

It would be nice to see an ACP setting for the spellchecker.
