I know it’s too late but finally got the time to install forum module on my localhost; man! It is great.
I have administrated VB and some other forum scripts and to me EE forum is much better. Because it is not too complicated and has none of those useless confusing never used features which both administrators and members can never figure them out or get used to them.

Conclusion: EE forum module is friendly in user interface, easy to handle in admin side and clean and light in backend code.

Here is one more reason why I love this creature!
