Well, it’s finally done grin
This is my first “big” EE site” and a one man job from start to finish (including the new logo which was just a mockup but which the people at read’s like so much they decided to keep it).
The people at Read’s wanted a complete makeover of their old site and the added ability to add news items, recipes etc.. oh yeah and all this in 3 languages!
The entire site should validate as XHTML strict (barring the odd niggle here and there) and CSS2.1.
The site was fully functional before any stylesheets were added so a lot of the CSS design was done live on the server.
I really got to know EE a lot better while doing this project and it really is a most flexible system; the templates and CSS files changed a lot before the final version and using the embeds made implementing site-wide changes a breeze.
As with any website in the end it’s all about compromise, part of the brief was that the site should work in IE Mac so that excluded a few things I could have done differently. At times Interner Explorer (a browser I’ve truly come to hate during this project) seemed bent on destroying on what is a very basic design after all.
I want to give a big thank you to all the people who responded to this initial post: Sue, Markus and Pixelated if we ever meet the drinks are on me grin

(d’oh almost forgot the link)

Looks very good.

If your pesto tastes as good as your websites are looking you can offer your pesto also at Genova without problems… 8-)

Very nice site.  I like clean and yours is that.  I also like the interesting little link pointers in the links throughout.  Also, the site invites one to explore, to scroll, to “look around the corner,” so to speak.  Really very nice and I think it fits the product it presents very well.  As always, I’m a little envious of talent I don’t have… :-)

Hey e-man,

great site. You might consider getting it featured on pMachine.com.
