I just saw Mint late last night and unfortunately the demo is offline so I cannot take a look at it.  Looks nice though and if it is PHP/MySQL with a bit of JavaScript there is likely a way to use it with or integrate it into ExpressionEngine.  We might purchase a copy and take a look when we have a chance.

Looks like Mark has installed it. Seems to work just like ShortStat—just add a line of code to the pages you want to track.

Paul, that would be a great idea!
Mint’s not compatible with every server out there though, although you can download a compatiblity test.
Here’s a screenshot;

Mint looks very cool.  I still want something better in terms of amount of information gathered, and the fact that it doesn’t work in some versions of IE is going to deter corporate users but I suspect I’ll be using it until something more powerful comes along.

I know that these aren’t the support forums for Mint, but such a thing doesn’t exist and I don’t know a better place to post my question atm, so please forgive me.

I installed Mint on schoepke.at/mint. EE runs on markus.schoepke.at. Please tell me that Mint is capable of recording the stats from my blog. If I take the Mint code snippet from schoepke.at/index.html (works if you visit the page there) and put it into my index template on markus.schoepke.at, nothing is recorded. The snippet is

<script src="http://schoepke.at/mint/mint.js.php" type="text/javascript" language="javascript"></script>

.

Any ideas?

It seems to work, but as far as tracking which entries are getting traffic I don’t seem to be getting that to work. It just shows how often a weblog page is hit.

Well, I’m having issues with it immediately.  My use of multiple sub-domains within a single site seems to be causing the problem.  Hopefully Shaun will be able to work out my problems with me (well my mint related ones anyway).

I love the interface though.

This looks interesting. Has anyone got this installed on a site being hosted by Site5?

I have Mint working with my home EE site. Install was fairly painless. I did have to adjust two things to get it working on all pages: 1) make sure it was stored in my “header” file which is embedded in ALL of my templates; and 2) remove a stray “” quote that I’m not certain if I copied or accidentally entered.

After making those two adjustments, the stats started pouring in. I did have to wait a few minutes, since I had told it to block my IP from tracking. But so far, I’ve been using Mint, and User-Agent 007, and Local Searches. They all work great; and have been providing me the snapshots of web traffic that I had been looking for.

Linguist, I’m hosted on Site5 and I’ve run the compatibility test php file they provide on the Mint website. It passed all tests, so I imagine you will be able to install it and use it without problems.

I’m just waiting for the demo to go back online, before buying it. I want to see if it is something I really want/need.

thanks for the info…

It works on anything, using the name of the page to list it, rather than its URL. If your comments page is just ‘Comments’, it won’t be that illuminating - you’ll get lots of ‘Comments’ spaces seperately, not one universal Comments hit-count. If it’s ‘Comments | I Just Bought An Elk’ or similar, you’ll be able to see exactly how popular everything is.

Methnen, could you explain the problems you mentioned with subdomains and Mint in more detail?
Has anyone else tested Mint with multiple domains/subdomains run from one EE installation?

I asked Shaun about subdomains and he wrote back:

How nice Mint plays with subdomains depends on how your server is configured. If your subdomains are essentially just mirrors of directories at the root of the main domain then you shouldn’t have any trouble.
If this isn’t how your server is set up then you might be better off waiting until Mint’s support for subdomains is more robust.

So, any experience very welcome to help me decide to buy or wait.

Thanks
-Markus

Well,

So far for myself I’ve been unable to get it to records hits from any subdomains other than www which makes it relatively useless at this point.  I have the paths set up correctly as far as I know.  And yes, in my case the subdomains are just mirrors of directories at the root of the main domain so that shouldn’t be the problem.  The only odd thing I can think of is that I’m running from OS X server.  However, this hasn’t been a problem with most scripts since all of the web server related stuff is open source and set up in a basically standard way.

I’ve already emailed Shaun but he hasn’t sent me a reply yet.  I suspect he is pretty swamped.
