Hi all!

Does anyone know what type of license do I need for a newspaper website? It´s a small company. There are only a 4 editors now and we have some banner ads.

Thanks in advance!

Looking at http://expressionengine.com/overview/pricing I’d say commercial.

Get the missing EE2 owner’s manual - a complete guide to building an EE2 site.  It’s available in PDF or print.

Thanks Boyink.

I don’t really sell anything… that’s why I considered non-commercial, it´s cheaper. But because of the banner issue… I guess most of the licenses are comercial, as most of the people have banners or adsense… I hoped commercial meant online shops.

Do yo know if I can buy a freelancer license to set the web up and then upgrade it with no more cost than the difference (x license - freeancer license)?

Hi DaniRom,

Welcome to the Forums and thanks for your interest in ExpressionEngine!

The easiest way to determine you license needs is to ask, will it be used in a for-profit endeavor? Since you are establishing an online newspaper, a commercial license would be the best fit.

Indeed, you can do that. As long as you are aware of the limitations of the Freelancer license. It will not work with Discussion Forum, Multisite Manager and does not support member registrations. Also, it can only have 3 total users.

Please let me know if I can answer any more questions for you!

Cheers!
