We are no longer offering an encrypted Trial version. We have switched to a 100% money-back guarantee now.

Does the 100% money-back guarantee include currency conversions. So if I order a refund, the exact amount taken out of my bank account in my country currency will be refunded?

If not, then it’s not like web development businesses like my own that exist outside of the US have a completely risk free trial. That is, if we need to purchase a license is $US just to test whether EE might be a good solution to sell to clients. Our dollar might be stronger to the US by the time we opt for a refund = loss in money.

Well, no, and I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect that: when you buy a license EL gets a fixed amount in US-Dollars. Should you make use of the money-back guarantee EL will happily refund that amount. The currency risk, such as it is, would have to be borne by you. Given the amount of money involved and the time frame of 30 days we are talking about a few dollars (US) here on the outset.

Just let me add that personally I am in the very same shoes (I am located in Europe) and exchange rates can fluctuate in both directions. I chalk this up to the cost of doing business in a global economy.

Ok… for anyone else (although don’t hold me to it as I have not tried it yet).

I questioned PayPal, and if you pay via PayPal and let them perform the currency conversion prior to paying in $US, then when you are refunded the amount they will refund the amount taken out of your account at the same conversion rate. So this would seem to resolve my issue.

While it is EE’s prerogative to structure their business model as they see fit, I really think a free trial is just expected by many. I have never seen a business model where one must pay to see what a product is like. I do not know what clients would think if I approached them to sell a solution, but told them that first they must pay money upfront for it which will be refunded if they don’t like it. I’m not complaining, as it is EE’s decision, but just seems strange.
