Similar to the Char Limit plugin, this plugin lets you specify how many characters you’d like to limit for a string and append something at the end, usually a hellip (three dots).

It won’t break a word up, and if it finds a punctuation symbol at the end of the string after being limited, it will remove that.

Tags (HTML, PHP) are stripped from the output, so this plugin’s primary usage is for titles, though can be used for other things.

Usage is listed in the plugin usage, but it’s simply:

{exp:trim_title chars="10" append="..."}
    Text Goes Here
{
/exp:trim_title}

Where chars is the number of characters to limit, and append is what should show up at the end of the string.

An example would be the recent or popular articles in the sidebar here.
