I’m completely new to EE and I’m wanting to know if it’s possible to setup a scheduled task to fetch the contents of an RSS feed and insert the entries as posts in a EE blog. I have a Posterous blog that I use for photography but would like to automatically include those posts in a new EE blog too.

Is this possible? MT has/had a plug-in for this, so I know it’s not impossible.

Not out of the box but you can use Feedgrab (http://www.brandnewbox.co.uk/articles/details/feedgrab_expression_engine_plugin/) and a cron job to do it. I’ve done this for a Posterous blog to EE weblog entry.

Welcome to the forums, Ray! It’s certainly not impossible, no. In fact, the Feedgrab plugin does this, I think. Just give it a try
