I know i’m LAZY, but has anyone created a DEFAULT HTML buttons for use with entries and comments (beyond that of what is provided) and also input that data into their CSS?

If so, I would very much like to get that code from someone.  Code that includes DEFAULT HTML buttons that are more advanced and robust than the simple 6 or so that is provided.

Maybe it’s because it’s 4:30am.  Maybe it’s because I’ve been writing about sociology for the last 4 hours.

But.. I have no idea what you’re talking about.  What do you want said buttons to do?  What data do you want input into your css?

That’s a great big, huh?  Please forgive my slowness today =)

Sorry, I was vague.

When people go to enter a new blog in the weblog/entry_form they can see about 6 buttons for formatting of HTML (like the strong, strike, email, link, etc.).  And when they click on those default html buttons it puts code like text here within their text for them.  This is a great feature for people that are HTML slow (.... html slow….... hahah… see… i’m up too late as well).  Anyways, i was hoping someone had already created a more advanced grouping of default html buttons along with the appropriate CSS coding so that I could copy and paste their information into my weblog/entry_form or weblog/comments form.

See what I mean?

Well, sort of - but like (I’m resorting to using the word like, just shoot me now) what do you want the buttons to do?

<FONT SIZE>
<FONT FACE>
<FONT COLOR>
<P>
<UL>
<OL>
<LI>
<TABLE><TR><TD>

Or whatever… just so people have a bit more control over their fonting, bullet points, maybe tabling if possible.

Nothing really major…  maybe others if available.

Just wondering if someone had the code already done that I could borrow (steal).  LOL

I’m Lazy :(

Well, first, font size, font face, font color are not valid xhtml.

If you want to add those, you don’t need any css -  just go to default buttons and add away.

But, honestly, it sounds to me like you want wysiwyg editing.  If you do want that, I’d highly suggest a search on the forum for wysiwyg, you’ll find some walk throughs on how to accomplish that.  Hacks, though. =/  I think there is a non-hack way for the stand alone form though.

How do I access the default buttons?  Is there a page I can pull up and edit?  Where is that located?

Also, while I have you on the “hook”, how do I access my mailing list people (where I can actually look at the emails that have signed up)?

Admin -> Default HTML Buttons. Remember, that’ll only change the buttons for NEW members.

Mailing list is in modules -> mailing list.

I would like to make a suggestion.  Other than the standard one of reading the manual, I suggest that you click around the control panel - a lot.  As long as you don’t hit submit on anything you won’t cause problems, and you’ll become familiar with where things are.  You may find some surprising stuff. =)

Gosh, trust me… i wish I had time to read all the manuals on everything I do.  I handle a few website (some quite large) as well as BloginService.com for fun.  Well with 4 young kids 6 and under and “life”... it’s hard ... so i try to cheat my way through it a bit (hope you don’t mind).  I have been coding for 10 years now (various coding)... so it’s not that I couldn’t do it… just that I guess I look for the easiest route before trying to tackle something.  Hey… it’s worked most of my life… why stop now eh?  I have clicked all around the Admin panel (I must have missed that figuring it was in the Admin section (I should have checked the modules).  Thank you for your time.  Truly… I do appreciate it very much.  You have been a big help today.

I went to modules and found the email module installed.  And yes, I’ve emailed the list by checking the button when sending communications.  What I was wondering though was how I could download or view all the email address of people that signed up for the Mailing List.  I can’t seem to find anywhere in the control panels where I can view this list of emails.  Can I download it somehow or view it?

I’m confused.  You can view the mailing list by going to modules -> mailing list -> view mailing list.

Back to the HTML buttons…

As Lisa mentioned, you can edit custom buttons under Admin > Default HTML Buttons.  That will change them for new/future members.  To change them for your current user you can go to My Account > HTML Formatting Buttons.
