My client cannot upload jpg’s to the site. They upload but do not save in the directory nor create the different sizes. If I take the image hes trying to upload and open it photoshop and resave it. It uploads fine. Does anyone know about an issue like this?

jbcobbs, can you upload the files yourself without putting them through Photoshop?

Were you resizing them?

Which version/build of ExpressionEngine are you using? You can find that out at the bottom of any control panel page.

The current version is 1.6.7 and the build is 20090515.

Build:  20090515 - He emailed me the files and I get the same as when my client tries to upload. It uploads, just doesnt process the image and stay there. I get no error messages or anything. I did several troubleshooting steps and if I simply open in PS without resizing or anything and then re-save it, it uploads fine. Here is one of the images that does not upload if you want to test it out on your own version - http://feastoflittleitaly.com/Feast Backgroung for TV.JPG

Is your client saving images in CMYK format and not RGB? A long shot!

Not sure. They come from a photographer, to my client, to me. I dont think there is any editing in between. It goes right from the camera to my client Im sure. But this is happening from multiple sources that he has. Very strange.

If they are coming right off the camera, I imagine they are probably huge.  How big are they?

Another thing to check is File upload preferences (Admin>Weblog administration) and check;

1. Maximum file size (OK to blank out for no limit)
2. Maximum image height/width (OK to blank out for no limit)
3. Member group - is the logged in member group allowed to upload?

The file upload settings which I think you are referring to are the file upload preferences which control custom upload folders. These dont apply to folders referenced in the galleries do they? Either way I have most of the fields blank. As far as the member groups - I cant upload the image either. Has anyone tried to upload the sample image that I posted into a gallery?

jbcobbs,

I can upload the image fine to 2 different installations of EE

What are you using for the Image Conversion Protocol?

CP Home ›  Modules ›  Image Galleries ›  Blaze Template ›  Preferences

Also how much php memory do you have?
You can find this out by going to the following path in the CP and searching for memory_limit

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Utilities ›  PHP Info

jbcobbs,

I was successfully able to upload the image you provided. It took about 10 seconds to do it but it went up there. I noted the server did seem a bit sluggish but nothing to worry about. Im not sure what else may be your issue other than connection speed and it timing out.

I figured out the problem. Here is the issue. I have a flash slideshow that reads the xml that gets outputted dynamically. The flash file reads the xml image file as imagename.jpg - The image that was in questions was imagename.JPG with a capitalized extension. I simply changed the extension and it worked. For simplicity sake for my client is there a way to make the extension type change to a lowercase .jpg upon upload so I dont have to have them change it?

Not really. How are you generating the xml?

There’s a Find and replace plugin you might want to use to put around whatever field you’re using to change .JPG to .jpg.
